Lorrie and I met on the sidewalk 4+ years ago as we went to fetch our mail. Michael, my husband and an Army soldier, and I had just moved off of Ft. Carson after he came home from Iraq. There would be many meetings and chats over the fence, at the mailbox and the thing I remember the most was her grace, intelligence, kindness, compassion and passion for living. Lorrie was and will always be a special inspiration to me because she really did live her life to the fullest and helped others to meet life's challenges head-on. Despite fighting a battle that to this day, as I watch her family assist her into an ambulance bound for the hospital - September 13, 2008 -
and get into their cars to follow, has worked to take her from her family and friends yet still, Lorrie has taught me more about grace and strength. To honor the privacy of my friend and her family, I sat on my porch and am watchful in prayer for Kevin, Victoria, their son, their relatives but mostly for my neighbor friend, Lorrie, who was always there to remind everyone that there is always room for prayer and that there would always be someone who would listen if you prayed. Well, Lorrie, I am praying and this is especially for you:

Dear Father, in this sime of suffering, may your presence be made known. Help me to rely on your Word for direction, as I know Lorrie has, always. May your Spirit calm this storm and provide rest for Lorrie and her family. And, may you please take my friend and heal her to prepare her for her journey out of pain and into a world of possibilities without suffering.

Bless you my neighbor and my friend, I shall be inspired to complete my Ph.D. because of the strength you have shown me, the support you have given me to help me meet my own father's needs in his battle with Leukemia, and the prayers I knew you were giving in support of me and Michael.

I love you, Lorrie, and will be here if ever your family needs me or Michael...all they have to do is ask. Our prayers will always be there for you and your family for what you have given for so many.

Bless you, Lorrie...you have had and will always have my prayers.

Thank you for everything, especially for sharing your faith!

Love, Hugs and Smiles,
Heidi Marie Connor and
SSGT Michael Connor, USAFR and 8.5 year US Army Veteran, and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
