Life Lessons of a Military Wife (overseas in Europe!): And here are the goodies we eat

Life Lessons of a Military Wife (overseas in Europe!)

My goal here is to make your life easier, especially those who are in the unique situation of being a military spouse. Yes...I've been around...but in a good way...and hopefully can share those tips, tricks and shortcuts with you too. I've been on this military bus for over 40 years now. My goals in life are to have a well-run home, few money worries, well adjusted children, money socked away and whatever happiness I can scoop out of life.

After life as an Army brat, being in the Army myself and marrying a soldier, I can honestly say I have a bucket full of life lessons I can share to help you make your everyday life easier and enlightening. Don't waste your time making unnecessary mistakes and benefit from others who have come before you on your journey through life.

And here are the goodies we eat

I know each country sometimes makes its mark by what foods are their national dishes....or what everyone likes to eat.  Well, Belgium is no different!  After someone finally convinced me that Belgium and not the French invented the French fries....actually, all it took was me trying a bite with one of the two dozen sauces each "frite" (fry) stand offers.....mmmmm....and then to see Belgians in a frenzied rush to eat mussels and fries two times a year....with signs and posters all over the countryside announcing their arrival, like they were the king and his entourage or something.  Anyway....enjoy the video.

Here are plenty of reasons to come visit!

And here's a mouth watering tidbit that about sums in ALL up.....did you know that Some of the most famous beers in the world are brewed by Trappist monks. Only seven monasteries in the world can produce Trappist beer and six are in Belgium.

My husband was born in VA and then at age 8 moved to Belgium (half his family lives there near brussels) and then at almost 21 moved back to the states and joined the ARMY we are currently trying to get stationed at SHAPE. Anyways when I visited Belgium (while we lived in Germany for 3 years) I made the mistake of saying FRENCH FRIES infront of my husbands grandmother who basically then flew off the grid yelling (god knows what) in french and storming out of the room...later my husband told me it all had to do with the fact that Belgians created french fries and his grandmother hates France ...haha. I learned not to bring up french fries again in belgium LOL
