Life Lessons of a Military Wife (overseas in Europe!): Ah Labor Day...the End of the Summer...

Life Lessons of a Military Wife (overseas in Europe!)

My goal here is to make your life easier, especially those who are in the unique situation of being a military spouse. Yes...I've been around...but in a good way...and hopefully can share those tips, tricks and shortcuts with you too. I've been on this military bus for over 40 years now. My goals in life are to have a well-run home, few money worries, well adjusted children, money socked away and whatever happiness I can scoop out of life.

After life as an Army brat, being in the Army myself and marrying a soldier, I can honestly say I have a bucket full of life lessons I can share to help you make your everyday life easier and enlightening. Don't waste your time making unnecessary mistakes and benefit from others who have come before you on your journey through life.

Ah Labor Day...the End of the Summer...

If you're like me, you think of Labor Day as the official end of summer...the end of beach blanket picnics and watermelon dripping from your children's chinny-chin-chins...getting together with family and generally having a good time and maybe even a day off from work is what's in store. But let's take a time to reflect.

Labor Day is officially anyway, a day set aside to pay tribute to working men and women. Former President Cleveland, way back when, actually signed this day, the first Monday in September, as "Labor Day". So, it was done, and now we celebrate it.

Since this was the first day off for my Army husband...in quite a long time, we enjoyed a few picnics with friends on Saturday and Sunday and even spent some time at the beach. We did take the time to reflect on those who were unable to spend this time with their families and friends, in particular his fellow soldiers overseas and in harm's way.

So, as you take a break today, please think of those, on watch, both here and over there...not just soldiers, but all those who were not able to take a day off work today. Hug your kids a bit tighter and give your spouse a special "thank-you" for just being themselves..nothing more. See you again tomorrow, where we will tackle some sorely needed work in the kitchen!
